A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A VEHICLE FLEET & SMALL ENGINE MECHANIC

As a Vehicle Fleet & Small Engine Mechanic, you're the go-to expert for maintaining and repairing a variety of small engines and fleet vehicles - from mowers to vans and pickup trucks. Your days are varied, so some days you may:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot engine issues
  • Repair and fine-tune brakes, timing, and other systems
  • Restore worn-out machines to working condition
  • Complete routine maintenance on the vehicles and equipment
  • Conduct annual vehicle inspections to identify and correct non-compliant conditions

Every day, you're solving problems, delivering quality work with pride, and growing your mechanical knowledge and skill set. You will be a resource for others by offering guidance and teaching employees how to care for and operate equipment properly. Your ability to share knowledge positively and effectively helps build confidence and keeps our teams running smoothly.

This isn't a shop-bound position. You're out in the field, traveling regionally in a company-provided vehicle to visit different branches. You will communicate with the local management team before, during, and after each visit. You're trusted to manage your schedule and represent our company with professionalism and positivity. You'll support growing locations and see the direct impact of your work in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Basic understanding of automotive and small engine mechanics (brakes, engines, and diagnostics)
  • Must have a standard set of tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Motivated with a desire to learn
