Job summary

Independent School District 197 is seeking a Supervisory Paraprofessional to support K-4 students at Mendota Elementary. The role involves supervising during recess and meals, mediating minor conflicts, and ensuring safe, respectful conduct throughout the school day.

The position requires teamwork with a trio of staff, flexibility to work outdoors in all weather, and strong communication with the school leadership. Compensation aligns with the paraprofessional agreement and is part-time.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Active supervision during indoor/outdoor recess and in the cafeteria for students K-4.
• Communicate and collaborate with a small team of three and with adults.
• Monitor student behavior; assist with peer mediation and problem resolution.
• Report incidents to the principal and keep leadership informed of concerns.
• Attend meetings as assigned and support the total school program.

Position: Supervisory Paraprofessional

Rate: $21.83 - $23.56 per hour per the 2025-2027 Paraprofessional Agreement

Location - Mendota Elementary

FTE: 2.5 hours a day

Hours: 2026-2027 School Year, Monday - Friday Student Contact Days

The successful candidate will be able to effectively accomplish the following job duties:

• Active supervision during Indoor/outdoor recess and inside the cafeteria for students K-4.
• Ability to be outside in all types of weather conditions including snow, rain, and sleet.
• Enjoys working with children; able to build relationships and mediate conflict.
• Part of a team of three; able to communicate and collaborate with adults.
• Monitoring student behavior; peer mediation and problem resolution.
• Encourages students to observe considerate and safe behavior.
• Reports all incidents of unacceptable student behavior to the principal.
• Keeping the principal informed of unacceptable student behavior or impending student behavior problems.
• Monitors all assigned areas of responsibility.
• Attends all meetings as assigned by the principal.
• Performing work assigned to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
• Patience, experience with student mediation preferred.
• This position works with a large number of children.
