Job description

Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School located in Southwest Ranches, Florida (Broward County) is looking to hire a qualified and experienced Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach for the 2024-2025 season. This candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and tenets of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the Assistant Men’s Volleyball Coach and is classified as an assistant to the Varsity head coach.
  • Develops teamwork, morale, sportsmanship, fair play and fosters a strong adherence to rules of training and conduct.
  • Assumes the responsibility in the development of the team within the total program, under the direction of the Head Varsity Coach.
  • Assists the Head Varsity Coach in carrying out his/her duties.
  • Attends all scheduled practices and games and is responsible for his/her athletes’ behavior and safety at all times while under the supervision of the coach.
  • Possesses and maintains a moral character that is in congruence with the expectations of the Archdiocese of Miami and the Mission of Archbishop McCarthy High School.
Qualifications:
  • Previous high school coaching experience and high school and/or college playing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Men’s volleyball, training and conditioning techniques, and the ability to diagnose player deficiencies and prescribe corrective activities to promote the success of the student-athlete.
  • Understanding that players are student-athletes, fostering an understanding for a high level of academics.
  • Ability to properly communicate with student-athletes, parents, and other coaches effectively.
  • Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Must have a team player attitude, be energetic, with a focus on excellent customer service.
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
