Union College in Schenectady, NY, invites applications for the Men’s Hockey Operations Coordinator/Assistant Men’s Ice Hockey Coach. The role supports the Head Coach in all facets of a Division I program, including travel, video prep, and recruiting student-athletes.

The position requires a bachelor's degree (master’s preferred) and the ability to work evenings and weekends. It is non-exempt, part-time, in-person, with a $24/hour pay rate in a college athletic setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience; master’s degree preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/bend for extended periods.
• Must possess or obtain a valid New York State driver’s license.
• Evidence of at least two years coaching experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit quality student-athletes.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
• Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations and alignment with a liberal arts college’s standards.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach in all phases of the men’s ice hockey program.
• Manage team travel and meals.
• Manage video preparation for games and practice.
• Assist administrative assistant with office tasks and group projects.
• Coach practices and games.
• Recruit prospective student-athletes.
• Support student-athlete development.
• Ensure academic success of student-athletes.
• Plan practices and games; ensure compliance with rules.
• Create a team social media marketing plan.
• Liaise between Hockey staff and campus offices.
• Other duties as assigned.
