Job summary

Union Gospel Mission in Sioux Falls seeks an on-site security companion to patrol and safeguard our facilities and grounds, enforce UGMSF policies, and assist in emergency responses. You will check-in clients, report hazards, and assist staff and visitors while maintaining detailed incident records.

Ideal candidates handle high-stress situations with calm, prioritize safety, and support the mission to help those in need while upholding our values of love and service.

Qualifications

• Ability to patrol and monitor facilities and enforce policies.
• Must prioritize calls for service based on safety needs.
• Comfort working in stressful situations and de-escalating quickly.

Responsibilities

• Inform and enforce UGMSF policies and procedures with Clients, visitors, and staff.
• Patrol and secure facility buildings and grounds; monitor conduct of visitors; confront unauthorized persons.
• Check-in clients and report safety issues or hazards.
• Respond to requests for assistance from employees, guests, and visitors.
• Assist with situations; problem-solve for positive outcomes.
• Escort personnel to and from parking areas.
• Maintain records and prepare incident reports and other security documents.

Shifts: Flexibility for days or nights, Sunday- Saturday availability.

Job duties are:

• Inform and enforce UGMSF policies and procedures with all Clients, visitors, and staff.
• Patrol and secure facility buildings and grounds as assigned. Monitor conduct of visitors on-premises and confront unauthorized persons for questioning.
• Check-in clients and report safety issues, fire hazards, or security violations.
• Respond to all requests for assistance from employees, guests, and visitors.
• Assist with any and all situations; i.e., problem-solving with positive outcomes.
• Escort personnel to and from parking areas as requested.
• Maintain records and prepare incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
• Ability to work with all age groups. Must be able to prioritize calls for service in order of urgency based on safety needs.

UGMSF Staff are expected to work in highly stressful situations in which they are to de‑escalate the situation as quickly as possible.
