Job summary

International Paper Company is seeking a Transportation Planner to support inbound and outbound transportation for 15 Industrial Packaging mills. The role involves creating shipment plans, managing delivery exceptions, and analyzing freight optimization to meet service requirements at minimum cost.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor degree in Business or Supply Chain Management and have at least 2 years of relevant experience. This position is full-time and located in Memphis, TN.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required, preferably in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 2+ years of supply chain experience preferred.
  • Experience in the paper & packaging industry strongly preferred.

Job Responsibilities

The Transportation Planner role has responsibility for supporting Inbound and Outbound transportation for 15 Industrial Packaging mills utilizing the SAP operating model, creating shipment plans and managing delivery exceptions to ensure customer pickup or delivery requirements are met. In this role, the planner will effectively analyze freight optimization, mode selection, and carrier selection to meet service requirements at minimum cost.

Create executable and timely transportation plans for assigned facilities through the utilization of supply chain operating model processes.

Ensure shipments are monitored and exceptions resolved prior to failures within SLA expectations.

Achieve performance measures: Vehicle Weights, Routing Guide Adherence, Cost to Serve, Best Mode, Open Door Time, Direct Loading, On Time Pickup/Delivery.

Build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholder groups, both internal and external, to meet cost and service objectives.

Proactively respond to requests utilizing knowledge of up and down stream business processes.

Work with our sourcing partners to understand trends, obstacles, and opportunities for improvements.

Identify, develop, and implement freight/cost saving initiatives.

Understand and follow policies, procedures, and best practices established for managing transportation planning.

Provide feedback on carrier performance to motor and rail carrier managers.

Able to gather and analyze data to identify opportunities and track performance.

On-call coverage of nights, weekends, and holidays is a requirement.
