Job summary

Memphis Artist for Change is seeking a Canvass Supervisor to lead multiple canvassing teams in the Memphis area, overseeing voter engagement, surveys, volunteer recruitment, and leadership development.

This part-time/seasonal/contract role reports to the Organizing Director and involves hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, data management, and field support, with duties split between office planning and field operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of canvassing, organizing, outreach, or campaign experience.
• Minimum 2 years supervising staff.
• Experience using voter files or CRM systems preferred.
• Strong leadership and coaching ability.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Commitment to racial justice and community organizing.

Responsibilities

• Program Leadership: Oversee daily operations of all canvassing activities and develop field plans aligned with campaign goals.
• Staff Supervision: Directly supervise Canvassers, hire/onboard, coach, evaluate, and develop improvement plans.
• Training & Development: Co-design and co-facilitate canvasser training; cover community organizing, active listening, de-escalation, data collection, survey administration, storytelling, safety, and leadership development.
• Field Operations: Approve turf assignments, conduct field visits, ensure materials/tech, monitor script adherence.
• Data & Reporting: Monitor metrics, review data quality, prepare weekly reports, analyze trends for strategy.
• Community Representation: Build relationships with community leaders and ensure respectful, culturally competent canvassing.
