Summary

The LPN/RN is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents and supervising the daily activities of nursing assistants, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, guidelines, and regulations to maintain high-quality care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing assistants, plan shifts, and report on shift activities. Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as needed, providing leadership within your unit.
2. Complete and maintain accurate records for resident admissions, transfers, discharges, and physician orders. Document care and resident responses thoroughly and accurately.
3. Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by a physician.
4. Foster good working relationships across departments to ensure seamless nursing services. Maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment on your shift.
5. Perform professional services such as catheterization, dressing changes, blood draws, massages, and exercises, as required.
6. Ensure safety regulations are followed in the use of equipment and supplies.
7. Maintain confidentiality of all resident information and ensure privacy during care.
8. Provide IV therapy and site care as needed.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current unencumbered RN or LPN license in the state.
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, understanding).
• Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
• Knowledge of nursing practices, laws, and regulations applicable to long-term care.
• Current CPR certification.
• Experience in Long Term Care preferred.

Physical Demands

• Ability to move intermittently throughout the shift.
• Capable of handling the mental and emotional stresses of the position.
• Meet health requirements including a medical and physical exam.
• Lift and move at least 25 pounds, and assist in emergency evacuations if necessary.
