Job summary

Hebrew SeniorLife is seeking an Expressive Therapist to plan, implement and coordinate expressive therapy programs for memory support residents. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to meet residents' physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs, enhancing quality of life.

You will lead group and 1:1 activities, adapt programs as residents' abilities change, and collaborate across departments.

Qualifications

• Masters in Expressive Arts Therapy, any modality; Art Therapy preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience with geriatric population.
• Proficiency in group leadership and group dynamics.
• Fluency in various art modalities.
• Multicultural awareness and experience with geriatric populations.
• Professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious and results-oriented.
• Excellent communication and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong organizational skills and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Develop imaginative and varied therapeutic programs tailored to each resident's preferences and strengths.
• Continuously adapt programs to changes in cognitive or physical abilities.
• Lead group expressive therapy sessions and art-making activities.
• Lead intellectually stimulating presentation-style programs for residents.
• Collaborate with programming teams for community-wide events.
• Initial and ongoing assessment of residents for appropriate group assignments.
• Orient new residents to the community and assist with onboarding.
• Document goals and progress, maintain communication with staff and families.
• Potentially supervise or mentor interns.
• Participate in service plan implementation and observe changes in health or mental status.
• Coordinate 1:1 sessions and organize community outings.
• Maintain supplies within budget.
