Job summary

Coterie Senior Living is seeking a Memory Care Engagement Assistant to coordinate and champion activities for Dementia Care residents. You will provide residents, staff, and families with support and care per the Dementia Care Operations Guide.

Qualifying candidates need a high school diploma or GED, knowledge of recreational therapy methods, and the ability to work varied shifts. Vaccination is required and training programs are provided.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of recreational therapy methods and their application to residents with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and employees.
  • Must be fully vaccinated and provide vaccination record at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned Life Guidance group programs as well as individual resident engagement.
  • Offer adequate and diversified recreational activities with sufficient supervision for each activity.
  • Involve Life Guidance staff in daily program planning and implementation.
  • Plan individual birthday celebrations for each resident.
  • Develop programs for residents including those confined to their rooms.
  • Engage and motivate residents to participate in programs.
  • Greet new residents and integrate them with others of similar interests/backgrounds.
  • Assist in planning parties and seasonal decorations throughout the year.
  • Support census-building initiatives within the community.
  • Maintain records of activities and resident participation as required by state law.
  • Assist in enlisting volunteers to aid the activities program.
  • May perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one (1) to two (2) years prior experience with an adult population developing and implementing activities and/or training.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the methods of recreational therapy or activity programming and their application to activity and leisure needs of residents with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
  • Required certification(s) based on current state regulations.
  • Ability to work various schedules and shifts as needed.
  • Must successfully complete all Atria specified training programs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must be fully vaccinated and provide vaccination record card at time of hire.

The Memory Care Engagement Assistant provides, coordinates, and champions programs and activities for Dementia Care residents. This individual provides residents, team members, and family members with support, interactions and care outlined in the Dementia Care Operations Guide.

Responsibilities
  • Lead assigned Life Guidance group programs as well as individual resident engagement.
  • Offer adequate and diversified recreational activities to residents with sufficient supervision for each activity.
  • Proactively involve all Life Guidance staff in the planning and implementation of the daily program which includes all activities of daily living.
  • Plan individual birthday celebrations for each resident.
  • Develop programs for residents including, if applicable, programs designed for residents confined to their rooms.
  • Engage and motivate residents, resulting in program participation.
  • Greet new residents making a special effort to include and engage them in activities and introduce them to others in the community with similar interests and backgrounds.
  • Assist in planning parties and activities as well as decorating the neighborhood according to the season and/or holiday throughout the years as well as planning monthly birthday parties to honor residents.
  • Support and actively participate in the community’s census building initiatives.
  • Maintain records of all activities, resident participation levels and acceptance of each activity by residents as required by state law.
  • Assist Life Guidance Director in enlisting the services of volunteers to aid the activities program.
  • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
