Job summary

Willow Ridge Rehabilitation & Living Center in Rutherfordton, NC is seeking a Memory Care Activities Coordinator with compassion, creativity, and energy to join our team. You will design engaging daily activities for residents living with Alzheimer's and other memory-related conditions, fostering dignity, joy, and meaningful connections.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CNA certification preferred.
• Experience in Memory Care, Alzheimer's, dementia, senior living or long-term care settings preferred.
• Activities, recreation, caregiving or senior engagement experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of dementia-friendly activities and approaches to resident engagement is a plus.
• Compassionate, patient, creative, dependable and energetic.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to organize and lead both group and individual activities.
• Ability to safely assist residents, including pushing wheelchairs when needed.
• A genuine passion for improving the quality of life of older adults.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and lead daily activities specifically designed for residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and memory-related conditions.
• Develop meaningful programming that supports cognitive stimulation, physical activity, creativity, socialization, and emotional well-being.
• Lead activities such as music, arts and crafts, sensory activities, games, exercise, reminiscing, holiday celebrations, and special events.
• Adapt activities to each resident's abilities, interests, preferences, and stage of memory loss.
• Encourage resident participation through patience, creativity, and positive reinforcement.
• Create opportunities for one-on-one engagement for residents who may not participate in group activities.
• Build trusting relationships with residents and help create a calm, welcoming Memory Care environment.
• Assist residents safely to and from activities, including wheelchair assistance when needed.
• Maintain activity calendars, supplies, participation records, and required documentation.
• Communicate resident interests, behaviors, preferences, and participation with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Collaborate with nursing, caregivers, families, and other departments to support resident-centered care.
• Help coordinate special events, celebrations, family activities, and community programs.

Your Impact as a Memory Care Activities Coordinator

As our Memory Care Activities Coordinator, you will help create a structured, engaging, and supportive environment designed around the unique needs and abilities of our Memory Care residents.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning, coordinating, and leading daily activities specifically designed for residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and memory-related conditions
