Job description

Purpose:

To assist the Activities Director in the planning and coordination of programs and activities that are varied, reflect the interests, values, and beliefs of the residents, and provide life-enriching opportunities for residents and the community.

Essential Functions:
Job Functions:
  1. Assist in the development and promotion of an Activities Program designed to promote the residents’ active involvement with each other, their families, and the community, providing social, physical, intellectual, and recreational activities in a planned, coordinated, and structured manner.
  2. Assist in the preparation of the monthly community newsletter.
  3. Preparation of the monthly community activity calendar.
  4. Assist in obtaining a historical and interest profile for each resident.
  5. Assist in actively developing and implementing a volunteer program for resident activities.
  6. Coordinate with caterers, entertainers, decorators, and others for scheduled events.
  7. Facilitate socialization among residents.
  8. Chaperone activities outside the community.
  9. Drive the Company van for residents’ activities.
  10. Participate actively with marketing on combined events.
  11. Participate as directed in the leasing and marketing process for potential residents.
  12. Assist and help with the decorating of the community for special events, seasons, and holidays.
  13. Any other tasks, assignments, projects, or requests as deemed by management.
  14. Participate in the community’s Manager on Duty (MOD) program on assigned weekends.
  15. Any other tasks, assignments, projects, or requests as needed by management.
Qualifications:
  1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  2. Must meet State specific training in recreational therapy.
  3. Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
  4. Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward the elderly.
  5. Must have upper body strength adequate to bend, lift, shift, move, and/or assist in moving articles of more than twenty-five pounds.
  6. Must be able to squat, reach, and stretch without distress. Must be able to tolerate extended periods walking and standing.
