Job summary

YMCA of Evansville is seeking a part-time Child Watch/Youth Activity Center attendant to provide a safe, supervised play environment for children from infants to fourteen years old while parents are on site.

You will assist with daily activities, maintain safety and cleanliness, and communicate progress to parents. CPR/AED, First Aid, and related training are required within 60 days of employment.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, and Bloodborne Pathogen training required within 60 days of employment.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all community and economic segments.
• Previous customer service, childcare, or related experience.
• Basic knowledge of computers.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
• Complete required abuse risk management training.
• Supervise youth and manage high-risk activities.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
• Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
• Assist with daily activities for children and engage in activities with them.
• Ensure children’s safety, supervision, and activities in the room.
• Communicate child progress and/or problems with parents as needed.
• Maintain orderly rooms with daily sanitizing and safety codes.
• Coordinate with the Childwatch Coordinator on concerns and supplies.
• Maintain accurate sign-in/out logs and file logs at shift end.
• Build relationships with members and connect them to the YMCA.
• Changing diapers or assisting with toileting.

Job Details: Job Location: Evansville, IN 47708, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $10.00, Job Category: Membership, Shifts needed:

3:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday.

8:00 a.m..-.1:00 p.m. Saturdays

Minimum of two days a week and two weekends a month required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide a safe, supervised play environment for the children signed into the YMCA Child Watch and Youth Activity Center while the parents or guardians are on the premises. Children’s ages range from infant to fourteen years of age.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist with daily activities for children, guide them through these activities, and remain active with them through all activities
• Responsible for the children's safety, supervision, and activities in the room.
• Communicate child progress and/or problems with parents as needed.
• Maintains the rooms orderly, ensuring daily sanitizing/cleaning and basic health and safety codes are always met
• Communicate with the Childwatch Coordinator about any concerns, maintenance issues, and supply needs.
• Ensure that an accurate sign-in/out log and file log sheets are completed at the end of each shift.
• Builds relationships with members; helps members connect and the YMCA.
• Changing diapers or assisting with toileting.
