Job summary

The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is seeking a part-time Membership Associate at Schilling Farms YMCA in Collierville, TN. You will deliver friendly member service, promote memberships and programs, and maintain a welcoming lobby environment.

You will interview and tour prospective members, sell memberships, and help members connect with the YMCA community. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, 18+ age, and CPR/First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.

• Previous customer service, sales, or related experience.
• Basic knowledge of computers.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
• Interviews and tours prospective members; sells memberships.
• Build relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
• Handle and resolve membership concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Apply all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
• May hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required.
• Report work time via YMCA Clocking Method: Branch Kiosk, YMCA site phone, YMCA iPad, or timesheet.
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings
• Assist with facility tours
• Serve as a YMCA representative at special events
• Attend designated YMCA trainings and certification courses

Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The part-time Membership Associate is responsible for delivering excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responding to member and guest needs, promoting memberships and programs, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.

Essential Functions

• Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.

• Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.

Work Schedule

The part-time work schedules may vary per the Y's hours of operation. Most Y's are open 7 days a week: Mon. – Fri. 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sat. 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sun. 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Work Environment And Physical Demands

• While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, and kneel down or crouch.
• Employees may be exposed to loud music.
• Specific visual abilities include close, distant, peripheral, and depth.
• Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions
• Ability to perceive, identify and respond to signs of distress.
