Job summary

Native American Health Center (NAHC) is seeking a Member Services Coordinator II to join our Member Services team in Oakland, CA. The MSC II collaborates with clinicians to assist members in accessing services across Medical, Dental, and Mental Health departments, screens eligibility for public programs, and enrolls members in funded plans.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 2 years experience in medical/dental receptionist role.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required for operational needs.
• Experience with health programs enrollment and billing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet members in a courteous, professional manner.
• Schedule appointments and inform members of processes.
• Manage scheduling to maximize productivity and fill gaps.
• Handle voicemail system and routing of messages, update greetings.
• Call to confirm appointments and notify members of outstanding balances.
• Answer inquiries about financial responsibility, insurance and benefits.
• Register members in the PMS and NAHC portal, and update information annually.
• Screen eligibility for county/state programs and inform members of limitations.
• Enroll members into publicly-funded programs and coordinate private insurance.
• Enter payer codes accurately and maintain expiration dates in PMS.
• Collect payments and issue receipts, advising staff of status.
• Verify insurance eligibility prior to appointments and communicate changes.
• Coordinate private insurance benefits with providers.
