Job summary

Oakland University’s Rec Well is seeking a part-time Member Services Assistant for 2026. The role serves as the first contact for students, members, and guests, delivering friendly service in person and by phone while guiding facility access and memberships.

You will handle sales, registrations, and equipment checkouts using Fusion software, support tours, and assist with portal navigation and member inquiries. Training and certifications are required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome students, members, and guests.
• Ensure authorized access to the facility by verifying membership status, verifying valid credentials, and following the daily schedule.
• Maintain knowledge of and enforce all Rec Well guidelines and procedures.
• Work with other Member Services employees to maintain general safety and security through being visibly alert and communicating important information to the Building Manager.
• Serve as a customer service representative of Rec Well, provide accurate and necessary information, and answer patron inquiries regarding membership and programs through both in person and over the phone communication.
• Provide sale transactions, program registrations, and day-use equipment check out to patrons through the use of Fusion software and sale terminals.
• Adapt to unexpected situations by exercising sound judgment and quick decision-making to resolve member and guest concerns as they arise.
• Uphold confidentiality and integrity in handling member data and facility assets.
• Perform other customer service duties as assigned, such as conducting facility tours, assisting with app or portal navigation issues, and supporting general member inquiries.
• Provide appropriate care and respond accordingly in emergency situations as stated in the Emergency Action Plan.
