Job description

Responsiblefor providing a variety of paying and receiving functions, including processingdeposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and cashiers’ checks. Balances each day's transactions and verifiescash totals. Performs specific assigned side-jobs and assists other staff witha variety of duties as required. Ensuresthat members are promptly and professionally served.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

1.Assumesresponsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of membertransaction functions.

  1. Representsthe Credit Union in a courteous andprofessional manner.
  2. Receives share deposits in person or by mail.
  3. Receives loan payments in person or by mail.
  4. Processes cashiers’ checks and similar transactions.
  5. Disburses cash or check share withdrawals in person or bymail.
  6. Processes transfers.
  7. Utilizes computer data processing system to accessaccounts and process transactions properly.
  8. Balance currency, coin and checks in cash drawers usingcomputers, calculators or adding machines throughout the day and at end ofshift.
  9. Transfers members’ calls to appropriate department whenthe inquiry falls outside of duties and responsibilities.
  10. Verifies transactions.Monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for endorsement andnegotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
  11. Orders checks and makes replacement debit or atm cardsfor members.
  12. Performs drive-up teller and night drop functions asassigned.
  13. Comprehends and adheres to credit union policies,procedures and compliance.

2. Assumes responsibilityfor establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relationswith members.

  1. Ensuresthat members' requests and questions are promptly resolved.
  2. Operateson-line teller terminal. Provides inperson or by mail, such information as members may authorize concerning theiraccount status.
  3. Receives changes ofaddresses and such other account information as needed and makes changes asappropriate.
  4. Ensuresthat all members are informed of Credit Union products and services andpolicies including eligibility for membership, types of available accounts,interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options, and other relatedservices and information.
  5. Maintainsconfidentiality regarding member information and credit union general businessaffairs.
  6. Ensuresthat the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.

3. Assumes responsibilityfor establishing and maintaining effective coordination and workingrelationships with area personnel and with management.

  1. Assistsarea personnel as required.
  2. Keepssupervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems orconcerns.
  3. Completesrequired reports and records accurately and promptly.
  4. Attendsmeetings as required.

4. Assumes responsibilityfor related duties as required or assigned.

  1. Cross-sellsCredit Union services.
  2. Ensuresthat work area is clean, well maintained, and secure.
  3. Performsrelated clerical duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

Six months cash handling.

  • Good communication skills.
