Job summary

Squad Health is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to join our engineering team and help lead the future of Squad Health’s AI-powered medication access platform. This is not a traditional software engineering role.

You\'ll work directly with founders and other team leaders to design, build, and scale the critical AI systems that power our platform. You will influence architectural choices, engineering practices, product direction, and company growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep proficiency in Python.
• Experience across backend services, APIs, databases, and web applications.
• Strong systems thinking and architectural judgment.

• Drive architectural decisions shaping the platform.

• Improve reliability, scalability, security, and observability across our systems.
• Mentor and elevate other engineers through code reviews and technical leadership.
• Help define Squad’s engineering culture as we continue to grow the team.

About Squad Health

Squad Health is solving the biggest problem in specialty medications: access. Specialty drugs are on track to be an $800B market by 2030, yet roughly 40% of these prescriptions never make it to the patient. Not because the therapy doesn't work, but because the process doesn't. Providers spend dozens of hours a week on benefits verification, prior authorizations, appeals, and financial assistance, and patients wait weeks for medications they need now.

We built an AI platform to own this entire journey. Providers send us the prescription and our agentic platform takes it from there, automating the vast majority of the work and getting patients on therapy in days instead of weeks. In just one year we’re already grown to serve thousands of providers across 40+ states, backed by world class technology and healthcare investors. On the other side of the marketplace, the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers partner with Squad to we solve critical barriers to access for patients.

About the Role

We're looking for a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) to join our engineering team and help lead the future of Squad Health’s industry-redefining medication access platform.

This is not a traditional software engineering role. You'll work directly with founders and other team leaders to design, build, and scale the critical AI systems that power our platform. You'll have significant influence over technical architecture, engineering practices, product direction, and company growth. In short, you will help determine what we build and how we build.

We're looking for engineers who thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and enjoy solving hard problems with real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive architectural decisions that will shape the future of the platform
• Design and build core platform capabilities across backend services, APIs, data systems, and user-facing applications
• Own projects from concept through production deployment (and scale!)
• Partner closely with product, operations, and leadership teams to solve complex workflow challenges
• Improve reliability, scalability, security, and observability across our systems
• Mentor and elevate other engineers through code reviews and technical leadership
• Help define Squad’s engineering culture as we continue to grow the team

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong experience building and scaling production systems
• Deep proficiency in Python
• Experience working across multiple parts of the stack, including backend services, APIs, databases, and modern web applications
• Strong systems thinking and architectural judgment
• Ability to independently drive projects with minimal oversight
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• High ownership mentality and strong product intuition

Bonus Qualifications

• Startup experience, particularly early-stage environments
• Healthcare, healthtech, or workflow automation experience
• Experience building AI-native products and/or AI agents at scale
