Amazon has launched a new research lab in San Francisco to develop foundational capabilities for useful AI agents. We’re enabling practical AI to make our customers more productive, empowered, and fulfilled. Our work combines large language models (LLMs) with reinforcement learning (RL) to address reasoning, planning, and world modeling in virtual and physical environments. Our research builds on Amazon’s broader AGI organization, which recently introduced Amazon Nova, a new generation of state-of-the-art foundation models (FMs).

Key job responsibilities

You will contribute directly to AI agent development by creating industry-leading tools for model training, evaluation, and other research workflows. You will be hired as a Member of Technical Staff.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, or related languages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Applied knowledge of machine learning theory and practice
• Experience with GPU training infrastructure and optimization
• Experience as a tech lead or engineering mentor
• Expertise across the software development lifecycle, including code reviews, build processes, testing, and operations
