Job summary

Portal Innovations invites a student to join our Ocean State Lab location in Providence for a summer Member Experience Intern, onsite and up to 30 hours per week. You will gain hands-on experience supporting a growing innovation hub as we open and expand our Life Sciences ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude.
  • 1–2 years of foundational interest or experience in any science concentration.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to work well with others.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate events with end-to-end logistics including setup and guest check-in.
  • Create a welcoming environment for members, guests, and attendees.
  • Support on-site execution of lunch and learns, workshops, and networking events.
  • Capture photos and short videos for member stories and ecosystem content.
  • Draft social posts with the on-site and National Marketing teams.
  • Greet and badge in visitors at front desk; maintain office stocks.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks and day-to-day operations.

The Opportunity:

Portal has an opportunity at our Ocean State Lab location for a Member Experience Intern this summer. Gain hands-on experience supporting a growing innovation hub as we build momentum from our opening and deepen our presence in the Life Sciences ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone who has a knack for creating great experiences, enjoys fast paced learning, and wants to build skills across event coordination, hospitality, content creation, and day-to-day operations.

What You'll Do
Events & Hospitality
  • Gain experience in end-to-end event logistics — from setup and guest check-in to breakdown
  • Learn how to create a welcoming, professional environment for members, guests, and event attendees
  • Support seamless on-site execution of events like lunch and learns, workshops, networking events, and community programming
Content & Social Media
  • Learn how to capture compelling photos and short videos that tell the story of our members and ecosystem
  • Collaborate with your on-site team and our National Marketing team to draft social media posts that reflect the energy and culture of our Ocean State location
Office Operations
  • Support front desk hospitality by greeting and badging in members and visitors
  • Help keep the kitchen, office supplies, and print/copy station stocked and organized
  • Support general administrative tasks and gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of a collaborative workspace
What we're looking for:
  • Students working to wards their Associates or Bachelors in related field
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
  • 1-2 years of foundational interest or experience in any science concentration or a related field
  • Comfort asking questions and a willingness to take on new challenges
  • Ability to work well with others

Compensation: $18 - 18.50 per hour

Work Authorization/Security-Clearance Requirements:

Must be eligible to work in the United States.
