The YMCA of South Alabama is seeking a Child Watch Attendant to provide a safe, welcoming environment for children while guardians participate in YMCA programs. You will supervise, sign in/out, and ensure adherence to safety rules and policies, while modeling the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Ability to relate effectively to children and families.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Completion of YMCA Child Abuse Prevention training.
  • Compliance with all YMCA safety and supervision requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage children in a safe, nurturing, and age-appropriate manner.
  • Sign children in and out according to YMCA procedures; maintain attendance records as required.
  • Maintain constant visual and auditory supervision and enforce safety rules and behavior expectations.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and guardians; report incidents promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary Child Watch area; model YMCA values every day.
