Job summary

Horizon Credit Union is seeking a Member Account Specialist in a full-time, exempt-free role in Montana. The position focuses on delivering exceptional member experiences, opening complex accounts, and promoting products and services to both consumers and businesses in a community banking environment.

The role requires a high school diploma (or GED) and at least six months of relevant experience. It includes responsibilities for cash handling and operational integrity within Horizon's branch

  • Open deposit accounts and cross-sell products to members and identify additional needs.

COMPENSATION

Full-Time

Non-Exempt

$18.85-$26.39/hourly

*This figure shown represents the minimum and maximum of the range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate’s experience, education and skill level.

Requirements
Education & Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MEMBER ACCOUNT SPECIALIST
Member Experience
  • Responsible for ensuring each interaction creates a positive member experience while providing relevant solutions to improve the financial and personal well-being of the member.
  • Deliver an exceptional member experience by actively engaging prospective and existing members, owning the full end-to-end membership and account opening process, including complex ownership types (e.g., Business, Trusts, Estate, Youth and IRAs), and ensuring all information is accurately verified, compliant with regulatory requirements, and supported by required Set up new account files and provide members with all the necessary information for membership including IRA Accounts, Trust Accounts and professional accounts
  • Verify cash transactions using the three-count rule, accurately record cash activity within the core system, and consistently balance cash drawers in accordance with Horizon's balancing standards.
  • Research, resolve, and report cash balancing discrepancies while maintaining strong cash controls and operational integrity.
Growth, Sales, & Service
  • Open deposit accounts and cross-sell products and services to new and current consumer and business members, focusing on financial value to the member through a consultative, member-centric approach.
  • Conduct outbound calling efforts to current and prospective members to promote credit union products and services and identify additional financial needs.
Technical Skills
  • Ability to navigate core data system including input, output, and inquiry to member accounts and other account information required in the member service function.
  • Leverage evolving digital tools and systems to deliver efficient, seamless omnichannel experiences while ensuring accuracy in financial calculations, including discounts, interest, and other key financial transactions.
Administrative
  • Maintain working knowledge of branch opening and closing procedures and assist as needed to support branch operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Business Continuity Plan and perform required duties during system interruptions to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Credit Union’s strategic direction, departmental goals, NCUA Share Insurance, and account insurability requirements.
