Commercial Metals Company in Cayce, SC, is hiring for a Melt Shop trainee role where you will receive comprehensive hands-on training across Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting Machine, and Refractories, and support in safety and inspections.

You'll work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, learn to troubleshoot equipment, monitor production, and perform routine maintenance, with opportunities for growth, advancement, and job security at a Fortune 500 company.

Responsabilidades

• Train in all Melt Shop areas including Furnace and Casting.
• Visually inspect equipment from pulpit for problems and hazards.
• Assist operators and perform routine maintenance.
• Fill in as Scrap Crane Operator and Second Helper when needed.
• Report unsafe conditions and production issues promptly.
• Communicate production needs clearly with team.
• Ensure tasks are completed safely and on time.
• Troubleshoot work-related problems using knowledge and teamwork.

What You'll Do

• Train in all areas of the Melt Shop to include Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting Machine, and Refractories
• Visually check from pulpit the furnace and other Melt Shop areas for possible problems and unsafe conditions
• Assist others when needed or requested (ladle furnace operator, crane operator, etc)
• Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance on furnace equipment
• Fill in as Scrap Crane Operator and Second Helper as needed
• Be alert of unsafe conditions at all times and report them immediately
• Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Ensure the tasks and activities as directed by operations support management are carried out in a safe and timely manner
• Ability to troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others

What You'll Need

• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
• Basic computer skills
• Demonstrate dependability in attendance, work completions, and flexibility to meet business needs
• Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
• Ability to work overtime as required, including planned schedules and unplanned emergency situations
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods of time

• Able and willing to cross train as required

Your Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
