Job Overview

The Melt Shop Supervisor oversees hourly and non-exempt salaried production personnel and operations during the assigned shift.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead, train, supervise, and coach assigned personnel, conducting performance evaluations regularly.
  2. Assign work to Lead Operators, Furnace Crews, Technicians, and support staff to meet departmental goals.
  3. Assist in planning work, managing resources, and supervising personnel to ensure efficiency, quality, throughput, and yield targets.
  4. Delegate tasks and follow up to ensure proper and productive completion.
  5. Allocate resources effectively across activities like maintenance, setup, and material handling.
  6. Develop and optimize operating and maintenance procedures, including preventive maintenance.
  7. Conduct safety inspections and investigations, working with the HSE Department to address issues.
  8. Review customer specifications, schedules, and reports to prepare melt schedules and chamber checklists.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required; college or technical training preferred.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including holidays and weekends.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.
  • Experience as a Lead Operator or in engineering/technical fields is advantageous.
  • Attention to detail with an understanding of overall operational impact.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
