Summary
Plan and organize shift operations in VIM/VAR/ESR/Refractory Departments. Maintain safe working conditions and economical operations. Lead and direct personnel in all Melt Shop Operations. Provide training.

This is a 2nd shift Role; 3:30pm-11:30pm

Essential Functions
  1. Responsible for communicating company goals/objectives/priorities to all personnel (salary and hourly).
  2. Responsible for training and development of personnel.
  3. Responsible for enforcing company rules and regulations.
  4. Engaged in safety efforts, safety contacts, and accident investigations.
  5. Ensure interdepartmental cooperation.
  6. Oversee basic shift operations and ensure proper procedures and schedules are followed.
  7. Assist in operational functions to keep the operation running smoothly.
  8. Assign manpower and assist personnel in their job assignments.
  9. Ensure personnel work safely and effectively.
  10. Assist in training for various jobs.
  11. Ensure proper processing of melts according to manufacturing requirements.
  12. Maintain proper processing and inspection of remelt, RCM grinding, and hand grinding.
  13. Troubleshoot operational problems and coordinate with superintendents for major decisions.
  14. Maintain plant cleanliness and safety compliance.
  15. Check melt sheets and spectro results, determine corrective actions, and coordinate further processing.
  16. Pass on shift information and maintain company policies.
  17. Coordinate material flow between departments.

Physical Dimensions
