Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Muskegon, MI, is seeking Production Melt Shop Operator openings on all three shifts. You will perform furnace and melting operations, Concast, Gates, Crane, and inspection tasks after extensive on-the-job training.

The role offers $23–$30 per hour with shift premiums of $2/hr on 2nd shift and $1/hr on 3rd shift, plus a 12% quarterly bonus for meeting targets. Safety-conscious candidates who can work in extreme heat with PPE are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED or equivalent.
• Foundry or related manufacturing experience preferred.

• Willing to accept rotating melt shop tasks.
• Ability to learn mechanical troubleshooting and mathematical aptitude with on-the-job training.
• Computer skills to operate required software applications.

• Willing to work overtime without prior notice.

Responsibilities

• Accept assignments to melt shop jobs and perform melt duties (Furnace, AOD, Concast, Gates, Crane, Shearline, and Inspection).
• Maintain and service department equipment as required.
• Observe all job safety practices and work instructions.
• Enter data into computer databases and maintain records and reports.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/area manager.

Production Melt Shop Operator openings on all three shifts

$23/hr.-$30/hr.

Shift Premium/differential: Shift Premiums: 2nd shift = $2/hr., 3rd shift: $1/hr.

• Accept assignments to a variety of melt shop jobs (after extensive on-the-job-training) and perform melt jobs on a primary or secondary basis including: Furnace and melting operations, AOD, Concast, Gates, Crane, Shearline and Inspection, and Refractory.


• Maintain and service department equipment as required for the job assignment.


• Observe all job safety practices, manufacturing and technical work instructions.


• Make data entries into computer database and maintain other records and reports as required.


• Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness of the department.


• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Area Manager.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High school graduate, GED, or equivalent.


• Foundry or experience in a related manufacturing occupation preferred.

• Must be able and willing to accept rotating job assignments involving a variety of melt shop tasks.


• Must have ability to learn mechanical, trouble shooting and mathematical aptitude (with appropriate on-the-job-training).

• Decision making ability - can comprehend multiple variables and take appropriate action without close supervision.


• Must be able to physically work in an extreme heat stress environment with exposure to molten metal, dust, and fumes.


• Ability to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment required for the position.


• Must be physically capable of performing heavy manual duties, operate a variety of machinery and equipment and wear required personal protective equipment.


• Must be able to read work instructions.


• Must be able to effectively communicate.


• Must be willing to work overtime without prior notice.
