Job summary

Orion Casting is seeking Melt Operators to ensure safe, efficient daily production. You will tap furnaces, set up melting operations, load/unload materials, and maintain clean, organized work areas while documenting production data and ensuring quality standards.

The role requires basic math, mechanical aptitude, and strong attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or equivalent required.
• Ability to move between machines as needed.
• Knowledge of molds and casting process theory.

Responsibilities

• Tap furnaces as directed by the supervisor.
• Set up and operate the furnace for melting.
• Load and unload materials.
• Clean furnace and equipment.
• Count, weigh and record units moved on production sheet.
• Operate forklift or hoist to move materials and product.
• Ensure products meet quality standards and maintain 5S cleanliness.

Join us in becoming the premier die casting manufacturer and engineering solutions supplier worldwide.SummaryMelt Operators ensure safe and effective completion of daily production requirements.Principal Duties and Responsibilities(But not limited to…)This job includes but is not limited to the following:• Tap furnaces as directed by the supervisor• Set up and operate the furnace for melting• Ability to load and unload the materials• Clean furnace and equipment• Count, weigh and record number of units of materials moved on daily production sheet• Remove samples of materials, label them with identifying information and take samples for laboratory analysis• Operate industrial truck or electrical hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and product• Skim sows and ingots, paying great attention to detail to ensure products meet or exceed quality standards• Responsible for stacking, banding and prepping of product for shipping• Ability to diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of furnaces.• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition ensuring strict adherence to 5S standards• Responsible to accurately and timely complete all necessary paperwork, such as, attendance reporting, corrective actions, preventative maintenance work orders, etc• Comply with established QMS procedures• Follow the requirements of the Quality Policy, ISO/TS system, and procedures and participate in the Continuous Quality process• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report any unsafe conditions in a timely manner• Must follow all safety rules and policies as set forth by OSHA guidelines and Pace Industries, including wearing the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)• Perform other associated duties, functions or work as may be needed or assigned to continue theproductive operation of the company.Position Requirements• Requires a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills.• Must be willing to embrace new technology and change.
