Job summary

Orion Castings is seeking a Diecast Operator to support production of metal die cast parts, weighing from ounces to over 30 pounds. The role includes quality checks, training, and adherence to safety policies in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

The candidate should understand die cast processes, operate trim presses, and contribute to continuous quality improvements while maintaining a clean, safe work environment on site.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to move between machines as needed.
  • Knowledge of molds and casting process theory.

Responsibilities

  • Remove gates and runner per work instructions and inspect parts to ensure product quality standards.
  • Operate trim presses and remove excess metal.
  • Understand the complete knowledge of die cast process including the function of the die, gates, runners and venting systems.
  • Evaluate the effects of the equipment on the quality of the parts.
  • Strive to improve process to continually increase production and improve quality.
  • Ability to train to keep up with technology.
  • Must follow all safety rules and policies as set forth by OSHA guidelines and Orion Casting policies and procedures as outlined in the employee manual.
  • Follow the requirements of the Quality Policy, ISO/TS system, and procedures and participate in the Continuous Quality processes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report any unsafe conditions in a timely manner
  • Perform other associated duties, functions or work as may be needed or assigned to continue the productive operation of the company.

Job description

Join us in becoming the premier die casting manufacturer and engineering solutions supplier worldwide. Summary Diecast Operators provide support in the production of metal die cast parts ranging in weight from several ounces to over 30 pounds. Ability to do various quality checks as trained and learn multiple processes in the facility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (But not limited to…)

This job includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Remove gates and runner as per the work instructions and inspect parts to ensure product quality standards.

  • Ability to do Quality Inspections as needed.

Physical Demands
  • Must be capable of lifting 50lbs, reach and lift moderately heavy parts – up to several hundred repetitions per shift
  • Ability to stand on one’s feet, bend, and / or twist a minimum of 8 hours per day
  • Must be able to ascend / descend stairs
  • Must be able to sit, walk, climb, stoop and kneel
