• Demonstrate safe tapping of metal from furnaces per the Control Plan.
• Keep area clean at all times.
• Communicate problems to supervisor and next shift.
• Interpret control charts for department.
• Operate scales correctly.
• Deliver metal to machines safely.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the handling and transporting molten aluminum; aluminum ingots, scrap aluminum to melt in furnaces to produce aluminum die castings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand the basic operation of all melting, holding furnaces and related equipment.
• Operate a lift truck safely.
• Clean and inspect all furnaces.
• Fill out all related paper work correctly.
• Keep metal levels in all furnaces at the correct levels at all times.
• Pour scrap in Hoppers into the re-melts according to the type of alloy safely.
• Accurately keep the Hoppers fill at the correct levels at Trim stations.
• Receive metal and store according to the control plans.
• Demonstrate the ability to "Tap Out" metal from furnaces safely according to the Control Plan.
• Keep area clean at all times.
• Bend up bands from ingots and scrap accordingly. (12" to 20" long)
• Communicate problems to your supervisor and the next shift.
• Interpretation of control charts appropriate to department.
• Operate the scales correctly.
• Deliver metal to machines in a safe manner.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with limited supervision and ability to multi-task.
• Forklift license.
• Ability to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required.
• 1 to 2 years of experience handling metal and cleaning furnaces
• Demonstrates basic mathematical skills
• Able to understand written work instructions
• Able and willing to stand for eight hours
• Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
