Job description

Medical Lab Technician/ Med Tech (Part-Time Days)

Responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting various specimens for the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of medical conditions.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient specimens according to established procedures. Perform specimen collection and other specimen handling duties as needed.
  2. Operate complex biomedical electronic instrumentation including calibration, maintenance, quality assurance, and troubleshooting.
  3. Perform and analyze quality control procedures including daily testing, recording, problem resolution, and compiling reports to ensure accuracy of all results.
  4. Review and verify the accuracy of test results before entering into the information system. Investigate unusual test results and report clinically significant information appropriately. Interpret results when requested.
  5. Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed to provide continuous service, minimizing downtime.
  6. Assist in instructing new employees to learn established lab procedures and practices.
  7. Maintain current knowledge of the field by attending seminars, in-services, and reading journals.
  8. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Specifications

An Associate's degree in Medical Lab Technology and a minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required. Certification by ASCP or NCA is also required.
