Job summary

Jenkins County Medical Center in Millen, GA is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse for Med Surg and ED coverage. The role supports compassionate, patient-centered care with a focus on quality outcomes. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered to new hires.

The LPN will provide direct and indirect patient care, coordinate unit operations, and serve as a clinical leader across Med Surg and ED. 7A–7P rotating shifts and adherence to hospital policies are required.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited LPN program.
• GA LPN license in good standing is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• CPI training to be completed within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of high‑quality nursing care.
• Implement nursing practices to support patient care and facility improvement.
• Maintain compliance with standards, regulations, and policies.
• Promote a collaborative team environment.
• Coordinate daily unit operations and provide leadership to staff.
• Deliver direct clinical care in Med Surg and ED, often in same shift.
• Manage admissions, discharges, and treatments for acute conditions.
• Triages patients in the emergency department using sound judgement.
• Explain procedures to patients and families with compassion.
• Administer and monitor medications per physician orders.
• Document patient progress in CPSI and communicate changes to physicians.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation.
• Respond effectively in high-stress situations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education

Graduate of an accredited LPN program

Current LPN license in the State of Georgia

Current BLS certification

CPI training to be completed within 6 months of hire

POSITION SUMMARY

The LPN provides direct and indirect patient care in the Med Surgical floor or Emergency Department. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family.

Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Acts as a clinical leader across Med Surg and Emergency Department.

The following represents the essential functions of this position. Other duties may be required as needed.

• 1. Ensure the continual delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• 2. Implement nursing practices to support patient care and facility improvement.
• 3. Maintain compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and facility policies.
• 4. Promote a collaborative team-oriented work environment.
• 5. Coordinate daily unit operations, delegate patient care, and provide formal/informal leadership to nursing staff.
• 6. Provide direct clinical care in both Med Surg unit and the Emergency Department, often in the same shift.
• 7. Manage admissions, discharges, and treatments for acute conditions and stabilize patients for transfer.
• 8. Use high level nursing judgement to manage patient care, including triaging in the emergency department.
• 9. Act as a patient advocate, explaining procedures to patients and families, and maintaining a high standard of compassionate care.
• 10. Administers and monitors medication in accordance with physicians’ orders.
• 11. Evaluates patient progress and reports changes in condition in the CPSI charting system.
• 12. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient’s status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies.
• 13. Maintain accurate nursing documentation in the medical record.
• 14. Respond appropriately in high stress and fast paced environments.
• 15. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN program
• Current LPN license in the State of Georgia
• Minimum of one (1) year work experience as an LPN in acute care setting preferred
• Current BLS certification
• CPI training to be completed within 6 months of hire
