Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice.
• Assists with positioning, turning, transferring and ambulation of patients.
• Obtains patient specimens and delivers to the laboratory, retrieves x-ray films.
• Records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight and intake–output; reports abnormalities.
• Assists with meals, serves food trays, hydrates patients and maintains fluid balance.
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge; helps patients move in/out of the facility.
• Communicates clearly with the charge nurse, coworkers and physicians; participates in care conferences.
