Job summary

Muth Electric, Inc. is seeking skilled electrical workers to install, test, and maintain high voltage equipment in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary:

Work involves installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining high voltage electric power‑controlling equipment and/or distribution lines. It also involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment; working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and using a variety of electrician’s hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. Requires comprehensive trade knowledge of electrical principles and system operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate safe work habits, comply with company safety requirements
  • Experience in High Voltage underground termination/splicing
  • Experience in overhead line maintenance/construction
  • Proper care for material, tools and equipment
  • Operates power tools such as drills, saws, pullers, tuggers, etc
  • Experience with Bucket Truck/Digger Derrick operations
  • Requires knowledge of process, procedures, and methods
  • Requires the use of common courtesy in everyday contacts with employees, clients, and the general public
  • Night/weekend work as required, with potential for extended hours as needed for emergency calls
  • Work as required in varying weather climates
  • The ability to travel out of town and stay overnight as required
  • Class A CDL Driver’s License or the ability to obtain
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to physically lift up to and in excess of 75 pounds
  • Must be able to climb ladders and steep stairs, crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, pushing and pulling objects
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ability to work at elevated heights on ladders and/or scaffolds
  • Specific vision abilities required
  • Must be able to physically work up to ten to twelve hour days, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
  • Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job
Education/Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
