Job summary

MBK Senior Living in Gilbert, Arizona is seeking a PRN Medication Technician for weekend and PRN shifts. You will document, dispense, and administer medications as prescribed, while delivering superior resident service and adhering to all policies and regulations.

Responsibilities include assisting residents with daily medications, coordinating with the pharmacy and physicians, recording administration, performing safety checks, and supporting caregivers.

Qualifications

  • Age 18 or over, or eligible to work in the U.S.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience handling medications; on‑the‑job training available.
  • Background checks as required by regulations.
  • Recent TB test within 6 months or 7 days of employment.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • HIPAA compliance at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily medications and care as assigned while following policies and regulations.
  • Observe, verify, and document medication ingestion or application as directed.
  • Notify supervisor if medication is not administered correctly and document reasons.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential medication and care records.
  • Coordinate medication services with residents, pharmacy, and physicians and verify dosages.
  • Prepare medications up to 24 hours in advance when needed.
  • Participate in narcotic counts at shift start and end and report discrepancies.
  • Assist caregivers and assume responsibilities as needed.
  • Respond promptly to resident needs with dignity, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Assist with daily living activities and mealtime support.
  • Transport residents safely using proper lifting techniques.
  • Perform regular safety checks and medication reminders.
  • Encourage participation in daily activities and community events.
  • Document incidents and communicate changes to supervisor.

PRN Medication Technician – Weekends and PRN

Pay Range: $20–$21.50 per hour

Job Summary

The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering, and administering medications to residents as prescribed by physician(s) while providing superior customer service and adhering to all policies, procedures, and government regulations.

Essential Job Duties
  • Assist residents with daily medications, treatments, and care as assigned, following scope of practice, policy, and regulations (40% of time).
  • Observe, verify, and document medication ingestion or application as directed (6% of time).
  • Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document reasons (5% of time).
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records on resident medication and care per established procedures (6% of time).
  • Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy, and physician(s) and verify dosages before dispensing (5% of time).
  • Track orders for medication changes/refills—prepare medications up to 24 hours in advance (5% of time).
  • Participate in narcotic counts at shift start and end, reporting discrepancies immediately (5% of time).
  • Assist caregivers in their duties and assume responsibilities when needed (13% of time).
  • Respond to resident needs promptly, maintaining dignity, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Assist with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, hygiene, meals, restrooms).
  • Provide mealtime assistance—selecting, serving, clearing trays as needed.
  • Transport residents safely using proper lifting and transferring techniques.
  • Perform regular safety checks and provide medication reminders.
  • Encourage residents to participate in daily activities (bed making, laundry, cleaning).
  • Assist with community activities and other job duties as required.
  • Document incidents and communicate any resident changes to supervisor immediately.
  • Respond promptly to all alerts using walkie-talkies.
  • Ensure resident safety and comfort, assisting in fire and safety drills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Health Services or Executive Director (15% of time).
  • Maintain a positive, professional image through actions and dress in line with core values.
  • Encourage teamwork and open communication across departments (100%).
  • Display tact and friendliness when interacting with residents, families, and guests (100%).
Requirements
  • Age 18 or over, or hold appropriate work permit and authorization.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience handling medications; on‑job training available.
  • Background checks as required by regulations.
  • Recent negative TB test (within 6 months or 7 days of employment).
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Effective interaction with diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Compliance with all state regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.
Physical Demands
  • Mobile and capable of meeting full physical demands of the role.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. and push 40 lbs. unassisted.
