Job summary

Valley Behavioral Health is seeking a Medication Technician to support the Valley Oaks and Valley Woods programs in Salt Lake City. You will manage and distribute monitored medications, serve as the first point of contact for medication questions, and work closely with the care team to ensure accurate scheduling and documentation.

In this role, you will coordinate with prescribers and pharmacy staff, maintain patient records, and mentor other team members.

Qualifications

  • One year of medical experience working with medications.
  • Certification in Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, or CNA in state of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Act as first point of contact for the medication distribution system and triage questions from patients or team.
  • Coordinate with prescribers and pharmacy to ensure correct medications are delivered to the correct patient at the correct time.
  • Ensure required paperwork and medical records are completed and submitted.
  • Document non-billable clinical events in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other treatment team employees.
  • Coordinate with other technicians to ensure coverage during absences.

Education

Salary

Range starts at $18.00 per hour (pay varies based on years of experience). Final salary: $18.00‑$20.25 per hour.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Job Summary

The Technician coordinates closely with prescribers, pharmacy staff, and the broader treatment team to ensure patients receive the correct medication on schedule, while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting team members.

Essential Functions
  • First point of contact for the medication distribution system; triage questions or concerns from patients, the treatment team, or community partners within scope of practice.
  • Coordinate with prescribers and pharmacy to ensure correct medications are delivered to the correct patient at the correct time.
  • Ensure required paperwork and medical records are completed and submitted.
  • Communicate with organizations supporting patient care through the treatment and office support teams.
  • Document non‑billable clinical events in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other treatment team employees.
  • Demonstrate flexibility when temporarily assigned to other clinics; coordinate with other technicians to ensure coverage during absences.
Requirements
Licenses / Certifications
  • CPR certification (post‑hire as needed).
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of medical experience working with medications.
  • Certification in Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice.
