Job summary

Vitality Living Frederica is seeking a dedicated Medication Technician for full-time night shifts on Saint Simons Island, GA. Under health care provider orders, you will administer or assist with medications and treatments, and deliver direct resident care per the individual service plan.

You will keep accurate medication records, observe responses to treatments, follow infection control policies, and communicate changes to supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Current Medication Technician certification from a state-approved program.
• Current CPR/First Aid certifications.
• At least 6 months of experience in a similar role.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Administers or assists with medications per health care provider orders.
• Maintains resident records daily, including medication distribution and observations.
• Observes residents for responses to treatments and reports changes to supervision.
• Maintains clean, safe medication supply room and completes audits as directed.
• Performs direct resident care and follows infection control procedures.

Provides direct care to residents following the individualized service plan.**RESPONSIBILITIES:*** Assists in maintaining the physical, social, and psychological environment that supports the best interest and welfare of the residents.* Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the performance of personnel tasks with the understanding that the responsibilities are not routine or limited to resident care matters. Maintains a clean, safe, environment in the community.* As per state regulations and completion of required training/certification, administers or assists with self-administration of medication and treatments as prescribed by the health care provider. Observes resident’s response to existing treatment plan, is aware of prominent medication interactions and side effects, and observes residents for occurrence of such and notifies supervisor.* Adheres to community infection control policies and procedures.* Maintains residents' records daily in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy and procedure. This includes documentation related to medication distribution, leisure activities, incidents and observations, charting any changes in resident's physical condition and or behaviors, visitors, etc.* Observes and documents the health and emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the supervisor.* Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the medicine supply room.* Receives reports on all residents.* Completes an accurate accounting of all medications, including controlled substances as per policy.* Assists with completion of medication cart audits per policy and direction of leadership.* Provides direct resident care.* Performs other duties as assigned.## Qualifications**SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:*** High school diploma or GED* Current Medication Technician certification from a state-approved program* Current CPR/First Aid certifications* At least 6 months experience in a similar role* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**Physical Demands include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, grasping, manual dexterity, stooping, kneeling, crouching, vision acuity, talking, and hearing. The weight determined to be appropriate for a Certified Medication Technician to lift with or without reasonable accommodations is up to 50 lbs.**EXPOSURE RISK CLASSIFICATION:**May perform unplanned tasks involving exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue which may contain AIDS, HIV, and Hepatitis A, B, and C viruses. Must be willing to work in an environment with potential infectious disease. Proper training and PPE will be required.
