Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. seeks a qualified Medication Technician to administer or assist with medications and treatments per the provider's orders, in a residential care setting in Florida.

You will maintain accurate records, observe residents, report changes, and support infection control policies. Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, a state-approved Medication Technician certification, CPR/First Aid certification, and at least 6 months of experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Medication Technician certification from a state-approved program.
• CPR/First Aid certification must be current.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in a similar role.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining the physical, social, and psychological environment that supports residents' best interests.
• Administer or assist with self-administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by the health care provider.
• Observe residents’ responses to treatments, note interactions/side effects, and report changes to supervisor.
• Maintain accurate daily records of medications, activities, incidents and observations per policy.
• Ensure medication room is clean, organized, and compliant with infection control policies.

Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE:To provide residents with services in accordance with health care provider’s orders regarding administration or assistance with medications and treatments, as per state regulations. Provides direct care to residents following the individualized service plan.RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists in maintaining the physical, social, and psychological environment that supports the best interest and welfare of the residents.Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the performance of personnel tasks with the understanding that the responsibilities are not routine or limited to resident care matters. Maintains a clean, safe, environment in the community.As per state regulations and completion of required training/certification, administers or assists with self-administration of medication and treatments as prescribed by the health care provider. Observes resident’s response to existing treatment plan, is aware of prominent medication interactions and side effects, and observes residents for occurrence of such and notifies supervisor.Adheres to community infection control policies and procedures.Maintains residents' records daily in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy and procedure. This includes documentation related to medication distribution, leisure activities, incidents and observations, charting any changes in resident's physical condition and or behaviors, visitors, etc.Observes and documents the health and emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the supervisor.Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the medicine supply room.Receives reports on all residents.Completes an accurate accounting of all medications, including controlled substances as per policy.Assists with completion of medication cart audits per policy and direction of leadership.Provides direct resident care.Performs other duties as assigned.SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GEDCurrent Medication Technician certification from a state-approved programCurrent CPR/First Aid certificationsAt least 6 months experience in a similar roleDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Physical Demands include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, grasping, manual dexterity, stooping, kneeling, crouching, vision acuity, talking, and hearing. The weight determined to be appropriate for a Certified Medication Technician to lift with or without reasonable accommodations is up to 50 lbs.EXPOSURE RISK CLASSIFICATION:May perform unplanned tasks involving exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue which may contain AIDS, HIV, and Hepatitis A, B, and C viruses. Must be willing to work in an environment with potential infectious disease. Proper training and PPE will be required.
