Our Certified Medication Technician is responsible for all aspects of medication administration within the scope of his/her certification and under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.
This position requires extensive direct interaction with residents and necessitates a kind and gentle individual who derives personal satisfaction from caring for others. Patience and understanding are essential, especially when caring for residents with dementia. Since they work directly with residents, displaying a positive attitude, having an outgoing personality, and maintaining a professional appearance are important.
The candidate must also be willing to take initiative and respond to potential crises in a home for dementia sufferers. Pride in their work, good communication skills, and integrity are vital qualities.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Certified Medication Technician Course.
Experience
One (1) year of related experience in a medical environment preferred. Knowledge of electronic medication systems is a plus but not required.
Licenses/Certifications
Must be certified as a Medication Technician in the state of Texas.
