Job summary

Acadia Healthcare in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Medication Aide to administer prescribed medications and support rehabilitation. The role requires completion of an accredited Medication Aide program and current NC registry, with duties including record-keeping and patient support.

You'll work under supervision to ensure safety, follow policies, and participate in ongoing training within a substance abuse treatment facility.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medication Aide program.
• Current listing on the NC DHHS Medication Aide registry.
• Knowledge/experience working with chemically dependent patients preferred.
• CPR/CPI (provided by facility)
• Must be 18 years of age based on company policy.
• Knowledge of 12-Step program preferred.
• Ability to work with male and female, adult (18-over) substance abuse/dually diagnosed population.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications to patients according to established protocols and physician orders.
• Document patient interactions and report changes in patient conditions or behaviors by communicating with team.
• Identify self to patient and visitors promptly and respond to patient requests quickly.
• Apply de-escalation techniques to help manage patient’s emotions, behavior, and participation in treatment.
• Communicate clearly and effectively to patients, family members, guests, and other members of the health care team.
• Adherence to work schedule and overall attendance.
• Follow established policies, procedures, and standards for patient care.
• Stay informed about changes in medication practices and healthcare regulations.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required.
• Collaborate with other staff in working with the population of the facility to treat and rehabilitate.

• Document timely, accurate, and appropriate information in patient medical record.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• Certification as a Medication Technician/Aide, as required by the state in which the facility is located.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
