Job summary

Rescue Mission of Trenton is seeking a compassionate Medication Technician to join our full-time or part-time team. You will oversee client medication administration, monitor for side effects, and coordinate with nursing and medical staff to support recovery.

This role offers $20.00 per hour with quarterly bonus pay, plus benefits for full-time staff and ongoing professional development in a mission-driven behavioral health setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Medication Technician certification (or NJ-recognized credential).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professionalism and client confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor client self-administration of medications according to physician orders and treatment protocols.
  • Observe clients for side effects or adverse reactions and communicate concerns promptly to the nursing and medical team.
  • Respond appropriately during medical emergencies by following established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate Medication Administration Records and related documentation.
  • Safeguard medications and confidential client information.
  • Coordinate with nurses, providers, and the interdisciplinary team to support each client's care plan.

Pay: $20.00 per hour and quarterly bonus pay

What You'll Do
Support Client Recovery
  • Oversee and monitor client self-administration of medications according to physician orders and treatment protocols.
  • Observe clients for side effects or adverse reactions and communicate concerns promptly to the nursing and medical team.
  • Respond appropriately during medical emergencies by following established procedures.
Ensure Accuracy & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs) and related documentation.
  • Safeguard medications and confidential client information.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and organizational policies regarding medication administration.
Coordinate Client Care
  • Collaborate with nurses, providers, and the interdisciplinary treatment team to support each client's care plan.
  • Schedule medical, dental, and vision appointments as needed.
  • Help ensure clients receive timely healthcare services that support their recovery goals.
Manage Medication Inventory
  • Monitor medication supplies and inventory.
  • Assist with ordering, storing, and securing medications.
  • Help maintain adequate medication availability for client needs.
Continue Growing Professionally
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education.
  • Stay current on best practices in medication administration and behavioral healthcare.
What We're Looking For

  • Current Medication Technician certification (or equivalent credential recognized in the State of New Jersey).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or substance use treatment.
