Job summary

Bickford Senior Living in Iowa City is seeking a Medication Technician to support resident care by administering daily medications with compassion, preserving dignity, and helping residents live life to the fullest.

This full-time role includes a benefits package and daily pay options; candidates must hold an active Medication Technician certification and a Medication Manager Certificate, plus CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• Active Medication Technician certification in good standing or at least one year of senior care experience.
• Must have approved Medication Manager Certificate from the Department of Inspection and Appeals.
• CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Follow MAR and physician orders to administer medications accurately.
• Follow Six rights of medication administration and internal policies.
• Utilize the eMAR system for medication administration.
• Communicate with clinical leadership for clarification regarding resident medication and care.
• Provide direct resident care and supervise non-licensed team members.
• Demonstrate Bickford's mission on shift.

The Medication Technician supports resident care within the branch, ensuring that Resident’s daily medications needs are met in a compassionate way that maintains their dignity, allowing them to live their life to the fullest!

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

• Accurately following the resident MAR to ensure that medications are given out according to the Physician’s orders.
• Understand and follow the “Six rights of medication administration” and all of Bickford’s policies and procedures regarding medication management.
• Understand and appropriately utilize the eMAR system for medication administration.
• Communicate appropriately with clinical leadership for clarification and direction regarding resident medication administration and care.
• Providing direct resident care Supervision of resident care work of non-licensed team members and other areas of the branch as appropriate.
• You will be a leader in demonstrating the Bickford Mission ‘Whatever it Takes’ to all other team members on shift.

Qualifications:

• An active Medication Technician Certification in good standing or at least one year of experience in the care of seniors.
• Must have an approved Medication Manager Certificate from the Department of Inspection and Appeals
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Willing to take additional training or education, which specific states may require.
• CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication.
• Competent in organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to utilize or learn Bickford’s eMAR system to administer medications.
