Job summary

Elderwood Village at Greece is seeking a Medication Technician to support residents with medications and daily care in a team-centered, compliant environment.

You will assist with safe medication administration, ADLs, and documentation while collaborating with licensed nursing staff to uphold resident dignity and safety. A CNA/LNA and potential MNA designation are required or preferred depending on role specifics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • CNA or LNA certification required
  • MNA authorization (Vermont only)
  • Completion of Medication Technician training program (preferred)
  • Ability to pass the Elderwood Medication Technician competency test
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Long-term care experience (preferred)
  • RCA training modules within onboarding timeframe

Responsibilities

  • Medication Support: Assist with safe, proper administration of medications and treatments as ordered, following the Five Rights of Medication Administration
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of medications, including controlled substances
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to licensed nursing staff
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation (e.g., change in condition, transfers, STOP & WATCH, electronic systems)
  • Resident Care & Support: Assist residents with ADLs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility
  • Respond promptly and respectfully to resident requests
  • Support resident dignity, comfort, and personal preferences at all times
  • Collaboration & Communication: Participate in change-of-shift reports and care coordination
  • Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Assist with dining services as needed
  • Safety, Compliance & Professional Standards: Follow all Elderwood policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Use PPE as required
  • Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  • Participate in required training, meetings, and in-service education

Position Overview

Medication Technicians assist in ensuring the health and well-being of residents by providing personal care and supporting the safe self-administration of medications (excluding injectable medications). This role works closely with licensed nursing staff to deliver high-quality care in accordance with each resident's plan of care, Elderwood standards, and all applicable regulations.

  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA compliance
  • Participate in required training, meetings, and in-service education

  • Vermont only: State authorization as a Medication Nurse Assistant (MNA) required

  • Long-term care experience (preferred)
  • Completion of required RCA training modules within designated onboarding timeframe
