Job summary

Behavioral Health Group - BHG is seeking a compassionate Medication Nurse (LPN) in Virginia to support patient-centered addiction recovery. You will screen patients, administer methadone, and monitor progress to ensure safe, effective treatment within a compliant clinical setting.

Qualified candidates are LPNs in Virginia with CPR/First Aid, capable of accurate data entry and working in a fast-paced team. The role offers daytime hours, no nights, plus competitive benefits and a signifiant bonus

Qualifications

• Virginia LPN license and CPR/First Aid certification.
• Experience in chemical addiction treatment preferred.
• Strong data entry and computer skills; EMR proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Administer methadone as prescribed, ensuring safe dosing.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:00AM - 1:00PM / Rotating Saturday shift

Pay: $28 - $30/hr. + Bonus Structure

Requirements: Must be board approved LPN with the Virginia Board of Nursing

What You’ll Do

Provide Care

• Administer methadone as prescribed, ensuring safe dosing.
• Evaluate and assess new and existing patients to help determine the most appropriate course of treatment.
• Observe patients after medication administration and assess their response to treatment.
• Collect and document urine specimens and monitor lab work and physicals.
• Create a welcoming, respectful environment where every patient is treated with dignity and compassion.
• Help ensure the treatment center meets all regulatory, licensing, and accreditation standards.

Manage Inventory & Documentation

• Maintain medical supply inventory and ensure medications are received, stored, and handled in accordance with DEA regulations.
• Prepare courtesy and vacation dose packages with accuracy.
• Keep patient dosing records complete, organized, and up to date to support continuity of care.

Team Building

• Help onboard and mentor new nursing team members, sharing knowledge and supporting their success.
• Earn phlebotomy certification when required and continue building your clinical skills through ongoing learning.
• Collaborate with counselors, nurses, and the broader care team.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed as an LPN in the state of Virginia.
• CPR and First Aid certified.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in chemical addiction.
• Knowledge of medication dispensing equipment, centrifuges, physical assessment tools, breathalyzers, and other standard clinical devices.
• Strong data entry and computer skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
• Excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to act independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with standard office equipment and electronic medical records.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Fast-paced clinical environment with period of increased activity.
• Exposure to patients with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, infectious diseases, and criminal justice involvement.
• Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping.
• Alternating between sitting and standing throughout the workday.
• Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
• Frequent keyboarding and computer use.
