Job summary

Mint Hill Senior Living in Mint Hill, NC is seeking a compassionate Medication Aide - SIC to support our clinical team in administering medications and providing specialized care to residents. You will monitor residents, document accurately, and collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• State certification as a Medication Aide preferred; on-the-job training available.
• Experience in senior care or assisted living preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medication administration and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed, with proper dosage and documentation.
• Specialized Care Support: Provide individualized care for residents with specific medical needs and ADLs.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate medication records and report adverse reactions.
• Resident Monitoring: Observe for side effects and changes in condition; inform the healthcare team.
• Medication Storage & Handling: Safely store medications per state regulations and policies.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work with nursing staff, physicians, and other professionals.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow regulations and protocols for medication administration and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Medication Administration: Administer medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, timing, and documentation.
• Specialized Care Support: Provide individualized care for residents with specific medical needs, including assistance with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely medication records and documentation, including reporting any adverse reactions or medication errors to the supervising nurse.
• Resident Monitoring: Monitor residents for side effects or changes in condition related to medication, notifying the healthcare team of any concerns or changes in their health status.
• Medication Storage & Handling: Ensure medications are stored safely and securely in compliance with state regulations and facility policies.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care and outcomes for residents.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow all regulations, guidelines, and protocols for medication administration and safety to ensure the highest standard of care.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• State certification as a Medication Aide preferred, on-the-job training available.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in senior care or assisted living (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of medication administration, safety protocols, and infection control practices
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
