The Medication Aide administers medication to residents safely and efficiently, excluding intramuscular, intradermal, intravenous, and medications via nasogastric or gastric tubes. They perform assigned treatments, document, chart, and report observations following guidelines, regulations, and policies. They also assist residents with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, toileting, feeding, mobility, and environmental care, always respecting residents' needs and desires to improve their quality of life.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1. Support residents' dignity, privacy, independence, and individuality.
2. Follow HIPAA privacy policies and procedures.
3. Maintain confidentiality of all resident, family, and staff information.
4. Complete care documentation accurately and timely.
5. Assist residents with personal care as needed.
6. Maintain a professional appearance.
7. Dispense medications under supervision of a licensed nurse.
8. Supervise medication administration per care plan and regulations.
9. Ensure documentation compliance with standards.
10. Monitor and observe residents as part of care plans, including behavioral interventions and incidental household services.
11. Observe, report, and document resident conditions and care provided.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

1. Ability to make appropriate professional judgments.
2. Handle multiple tasks effectively.
3. Provide care according to the care plan and respond to resident needs, reporting changes appropriately.
4. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs and perform physical movements like stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
6. Spend most of the workday standing and walking; occasional sitting.
7. Moderate noise and distractions in the environment.
8. Visual abilities including close, distance, and peripheral vision.
9. Operate a motor vehicle and have reliable transportation.

Education & Experience

1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
2. Must be at least 18 years old.
3. Six months experience in assisted living preferred.
4. Valid U.S. citizenship or work permit.
5. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Registered Medication Aide certification required.
