Job summary

Primrose Retirement Communities in Michigan is seeking a Medication Aide to administer routine medications to residents in compliance with state regulations and Primrose policy.

The role supports the nursing department and may assist with personal care, activities, and coordination with families and medical staff. Evening, night, or rotating shifts are available, with options for FT or PT hours.

Qualifications

  • State certification as Medication Aide or Qualified Medication Administration Person is required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification per state regulations.
  • Experience in long-term care or assisted living is preferred.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

  • Administer routine medications to residents in accordance with state regulations and Primrose policy.
  • Provide care that may include personal hygiene, dressing, and activities as assigned.
  • Collaborate with nursing and other staff to support resident well-being and safety.
  • Maintain documentation and communicate with residents, families, and medical professionals as needed.

Primrose Retirement Communities is hiring a Medication Aide to be responsible for administering routine medications to residents in accordance with state regulations and Primrose policy. The Medication Aide provides care to residents which may include personal hygiene, dressing, housekeeping, laundry, social-recreational activities, meal services and other duties and services as assigned within the community. The Medication Aide collaborates and assists in supporting the entire nursing department, other departments, medical professionals, consultants, residents, and families in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in long-term care or assisted living environment is preferred.
  • Current certification as a Medication Aide or Assistant or Qualified Medication Administration Person per state regulations.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification per state regulations.
  • Attends in-service training as assigned and maintains continuing education hours if required for certification of position.
  • Has strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease, other dementias and related memory impairments is preferred.
  • Demonstrates abilities to work as a team.
  • Basic knowledge of computer software and programs.
  • Able to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
