Morningside Ministries in Boerne, TX seeks a Certified Medication Aide to assist licensed nursing staff in resident care. The 6pm-12am shift offers opportunities to support medication administration and daily living tasks in a senior living community.

The role requires a Medication Aide certificate and CPR certification, with a preference for 1 year of related experience or nursing assistant background. Excellent teamwork and compassionate service are essential.

Qualifications

• Medication aide certificate is required.
• CPR certification is required.
• Minimum of one year related experience preferred, or experience as Nursing Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the implementation of the prescribed health care plan.
• Administer medications to residents according to prescribed schedule.
• Document PRN medications according to state standards.
• Count narcotics; document narcotics as directed by supervisor.
• Take and record vital signs prior to medication administration.

Job Summary:

Assists licensed professional nursing staff by the performance of routine duties in the care of residents.

6pm-12am

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the implementation of the prescribed health care plan.
• Administer medications to residents according to prescribed schedule.
• Administer PRN medications if authorized by the charge nurse.
• Document all PRN’s according to state standards in all areas of the chart.
• Observe and report to supervisor any reactions and side effects of medication administered.
• Take and record vital signs of residents, as required, prior to administration of medications which could affect or change the vital signs.
• Administer and document regularly prescribed medications which the medication aide is permitted to administer after personally preparing (setting up) the medications.
• Administer oxygen per nasal canula or a non-sealing face mask in an emergency.
• Immediately after the emergency, notify the licensed nurse on duty or on call. Document the activity and notification.
• Count narcotics; give all routinely prescribed narcotics; document same on individual sheet and medication sheet at discretion of supervisor.
• Assist nurses with other resident/patient care duties.
• Assist nurses with other resident/patient care duties.

Qualifications:

• Required : Medication aide certificate, CPR.
• Minimum of one year related experience preferred, or experience as Nursing Assistant, or appropriate formal education/training.
