The Manager oversees the prior authorization process ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in obtaining timely approvals for prescription treatments. Responsible for the professional and administrative management of team members. Manages the workflow of prior authorization requests, identifying and resolving issues. Collaborates with other departments, including physicians and other healthcare providers. Serves as a key point of contact with Leadership to develop, implement, and maintain systems promoting safe, effective, compliant, and efficient processes. Is part of the Operations Management team and will be responsible for management and coordination of daily work activities, serves as a resource to the assigned staff regarding specific skill demonstration, promotion of knowledge, communication and is expected to develop and provide ongoing education, coaching and mentorship in reference to policy, and develop plans of action. Works to enhance and maintain the services and ensure hospital outcomes are met. Develop and track key performance metrics including prior authorization approvals, appeals, and denials. Will respond to immediate service interruptions and/or concerns to ensure a satisfactory service recovery. Adjust resources to meet operational needs within budget allocation.
Education
Bachelors Degree : College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (Required)
Doctorate Degree : Pharmacy (Required)
Experience
3 Years experience working in retail/community pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, inpatient or outpatient pharmacy, or with Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM) on medication access (Required)
2 Years experience supervision or managing a department, team or similar practice (Preferred)
License/Certifications
RPH-LIC - PA Pharmacist License (Required)
