Job summary

Allina Health, a not-for-profit health system serving Minnesota and western Wisconsin, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for Weight Management in Coon Rapids. The role supports medical and surgical weight loss programs with in-person and virtual visits, within a large team of providers and dietary specialists.

Hybrid work arrangement with day shifts (7:30am–4:30pm or 8:00am–4:30pm), no weekends or major holidays.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree - NP or PA program completed
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in a primary or specialty clinic setting

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients as part of a physician/nurse team in accordance with the designated specialty.
• Performs duties in both inpatient and outpatient settings and can work independently or with a team.
• Educates patients, serves as a case manager and consultant to staff and multidisciplinary care team.

Education

Key Position Details:

• This position is for Weight Management – Coon Rapids
• DAY SHIFT HOURS 7:30am – 4:30pm two days per week and 8:00am – 4:30pm three days per week

Come work with a highly collaborative team that supports people suffering from overweight and obesity. This position supports both medical and surgical weight loss programs. Patients are seen both in person and through virtual visits. We have the largest program in Minnesota with 3 surgeons, 2 physicians, 22 mid-level providers, and 17 dietitians. Work is supported by an awesome team of nurses and medical assistants.

Job Description:

Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a physician/nurse team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

Principle Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
• Participates in health care team
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program
• Minimum 1- 2 years experience in a primary or specialty clinic setting

Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire or Physician Assistant equivalent
• Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty or Physician Assistant equivalent required upon hire
• Certified Nurse Practitioner - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire
• ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
• Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire
• Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment for those working in Complex Care for Seniors, Community Palliative Care and Hospice

Physical Demands

• Medium Work*:

Pay Range

Pay Range: $137,530 to $162,074 per year

The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
