Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Per Diem Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Medical Weight Loss program in Danvers, Beverly, and Gloucester, MA. This part-time per diem position offers flexible scheduling in a multidisciplinary setting focused on obesity medicine and metabolic health.

You will perform clinical assessments, manage treatment plans, prescribe FDA-approved weight loss medications within scope, and work with a team of physicians, dietitians, and behavioral

Qualifications

• MUST have NP/PA degree and MA licensure.
• National certification as NP/PA is required.
• Experience in obesity medicine or weight management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive initial and follow-up evaluations for weight management.
• Review labs and medical histories to assess obesity-related risks.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for weight loss.
• Initiate and manage FDA-approved anti-obesity medications within scope.
• Educate patients on nutrition, activity, behavior modification, and pharmacotherapy.
• Collaborate with physicians and nutrition/behavioral health staff to coordinate care.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation in Epic.

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Per Diem Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our multidisciplinary Lifestyle Management and Medical Weight Loss Program. This is an exceptional opportunity to provide evidence-based obesity medicine and metabolic health care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment while enjoying a flexible per diem schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Assessment and Management

• Conduct comprehensive initial and follow-up evaluations for patients seeking medical weight management.
• Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, review laboratory and diagnostic results, and assess obesity-related health risks.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on sustainable weight loss and long-term health improvement.

Medical Weight Loss Treatment

• Initiate, prescribe, and manage FDA-approved anti-obesity medications within scope of practice and organizational guidelines.
• Monitor treatment response, medication tolerance, and clinical outcomes, adjusting treatment plans as appropriate.
• Provide education and counseling regarding nutrition, physical activity, behavioral modification, and pharmacologic therapies.

Management of Obesity-Related Conditions

• Evaluate and manage common obesity-related comorbidities, including Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, and sleep apnea.
• Collaborate with primary care providers and specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Work closely with physicians, registered dietitians, behavioral health clinicians, exercise physiologists, pharmacists, and nursing staff to support holistic patient care.
• Participate in case reviews and interdisciplinary treatment planning.

Documentation and Quality Care

• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record (Epic).
• Adhere to organizational, state, and federal regulatory requirements and quality standards.

Qualifications:

Required

• Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current Massachusetts licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• National certification as an NP or PA.
• Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR), or ability to obtain.
• Experience managing adult patients in primary care, endocrinology, obesity medicine, weight management, or a related specialty.

Preferred

• Experience in obesity medicine, weight management, endocrinology, or lifestyle medicine.
• Certification from the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) or documented experience in medical weight management.
• Familiarity with prescribing and managing GLP-1 receptor agonists and other anti-obesity pharmacotherapies.
• Experience using Epic or a comparable electronic health record.

Pay Range:

$68,265.60 USD - $92,851.20 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
